Just down the road from Anthem (about 12 miles south on I-17) is a hidden treasure called the Deer Valley Rock Art Center.  It is home to over 1,500 ancient petroglyphs (rock carvings), one of the largest collections in the United States.  These petroglyphs were hand carved by Native Americans over thousands of years and are preserved here for our viewing.  The Rock Art Center has lots of fun activities for kids and is enjoyable for adults too.  The petroglyphs are all located outside, so if you’re going to see them during the summer best to go in the morning.

The Deer Valley Rock Art Center is located at 3711 W. Deer Valley Rd. (just take the Deer Valley Rd. exit off I-17 and follow west about as far as you can go, approx. 3 miles).  Call 623-582-8007 for more information.  Or visit: http://dvrac.asu.edu/
